Regional Laboratories

Apart from the laboratory in Linköping, NFC comprises three regional laboratories situated in Stockholm, Malmö and Gothenburg.

The principal operations carried out at these sites incorporate analyzing traces secured and collected by CSI´s and other police officers at crime scenes within their respective region. This may for example imply development and identification of fingerprints, analyses of mechanical traces (trace evidence), questioned documents and shoe prints, investigation of fire arms as well as photographing of traces and video documentation.

NFC Stockholm

  • Cases on behalf of the Swedish Migration Board regarding search of asylum seekers fingerprints: 18,100 (2018)
  • Administrative commissions: 9,600 (2018)
  • Employees: 50 (December 2018)

NFC Stockholm consists of three groups; two Fingerprint Groups and one Marks and Documentation Group. The employees mainly develop and identify fingerprints, analyze mechanical traces (trace evidence), carry out analyses of shoe prints, investigate firearms and record traces by means of fotography and film.

NFC Syd

  • Completed cases: 3,600 (2018)
  • Employees: 32 (December 2018)

The employees of NFC Syd mainly develop and identify fingerprints, analyze mechanical traces (trace evidence), carry out analyses of shoe prints, investigate firearms and record traces by means of fotography and film.

NFC Väst

  • Completed cases: 2,200 (2018)
  • Employees: 26 (December 2018)

The employees of NFC Väst develop and identify fingerprints, analyze mechanical traces (trace evidence), carry out analyses of shoe prints and firearms investigations as well as secure biological traces. In addition, traces may be recorded by means of fotography and film, and the Section may also undertake UAS (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) operations.
